This month collection of objects

Business cards are used to introduce people or their business and are invented by the French photographer André Adolpe Disdéri in 1854.  The business card became popular all over the world and people bought, swapped and collected them in both albums and drawer boxes. They also became an important source of income for all photographers in the late 20th century, and only in England, they learn to have sold about 400 million a year at the end of the 1870s!

In our photo archive there are a lot of business cards on both famous and unknown persons. The picture represents an unknown lady photographed at Torne Photography Studios
