The Nordic Utility Glass Conference

 5 - 6 October 2017

 Växjö, Sweden

Glass, dining and design is the theme for The Nordic Utility Glass Conference 2017. This year's conference takes place in Växjö and is being organised by Kulturparken Småland/
The Swedish Glass Museum and Linnaeus University.
The conference aims to explore utility glass from a cultural and design-history perspective, with the focus on dining and table settings throughout the ages. Several lecturers from Nordic countries will be participating in the event, including Erika Lagerbielke. As well as being a teacher of glass design at Linnaeus University, she is also one of Sweden's most well-known designers. Study visits to the new glass reserve at Kulturarvscentrum Småland are also included in order to promote the role of collections and archives.
The conference is aimed at researchers, design teachers, designers, museum staff, glass specialists, students and glass enthusiasts.
The Nordic Utility Glass Conference was first held in Denmark in 2016 on the initiative of Naestved Museum. The conference in Växjö will be the second in the series.
