There is a song in everything
We listen to the wind, the roads, the houses and the landscape. We walk in footsteps, touch objects. Meanings and mysteries sing faintly. We stand between what has been and what is to come. Meet Lotta Söder and Malin Gezelius in this year’s summer exhibition at the Swedish Museum of Glass.

Glass as a material has been central in various ways in our works. Fragile, strong, impossible, beautiful, demanding. As a bearer of the sacred, of everyday life. Materials that shaped lives and places. Precious and vulnerable. It speaks to us.

Lotta Söder shows blown glass collages, mosaics and paintings where screen, text and color are central elements. Patterns and images from different times and places meet in her work. The interior room is in focus.

Malin Gezelius shows photos from the glass kingdom in large format and pictures on glass. Her works take their starting point in Kosta, where she grew up. A deep love for the place, the people and the magic in the glass runs like a string through the pictures. A clear view of the change of landscape and culture gives her poetic photos a deeper blackness. Presence and absence are central themes.
